McLaren MP4-12C, McLaren Automotive Reveals Details of its Next Generation of Prototypes

With the McLaren MP4-12C’s development entering its final phase, McLaren Automotive has released this video of the latest Experimental Prototypes (XP) undergoing a series of driving tests in Spain’s Applus IDIADA facility and on public roads near Tarragona.

McLaren MP4-12C Testing in Spain

The XP8 and XP10, two XP Beta-phase prototypes feature significant technological advancements such as a revised iteration of the M838T twin-turbo engine, a gearbox featuring new gear ratios, a more efficient cooling package, new suspension geometry and upgraded electrics.

McLaren are claiming that the MP4 will have the best combination of road and track abilities of any car currently on sale. They are bound to say that but knowing how McLaren operate I wouldn’t bet against them.

Many thanks to McLaren for providing this video which gives an insight into a performance car testing programme from the perspective of the development team.

These short videos have been officially released by Porsche to show off the new Porsche 997 GT3 which is based on the face lifted version of the 997. Porsche Driving Experience Centre

Porsche have opened their new Driving Experience Centre at Silverstone – this video shows one of the Porsche Driving Consultants as he takes a lap at the facilities, including the low friction circuit, the ice hill, the kick plate, the handling circuit and the off-road course.

After you’ve watched this you’ll be wishing you had HIS job!

This is a Video made by EVO Magazine which shows EVO’s Richard Meaden in a Ferrari 599 following Harry Metcalfe’s Ferrari 550 driving hard through the idyllic Italian countryside.

Although driving doesn’t have to be this quick – it certainly makes you want to get out there and drive on those amazing roads. I think Harry was Richard’s boss – I’m surprised he didn’t fire him afterwards as the Ferrari 550 which was almost hit a few times by Richard was actually Harry’s own car at the time!

Love Driving? Welcome to my New Blog!

Hello everyone – this is my very first post on my new Blog – Love-Driving.com!
I really love driving – no matter whether it’s just a few miles around the corner or driving thousands of miles across Europe. Not only do I love driving, but I also love driving all sorts of different cars – even older cars can have a lot of character and provide a fantastic driving experience – e.g. the original Mini – which was in fact my first car. Over the last 20 years I’ve been lucky enough to drive all sorts of cars from Minis to Ferraris but funnily enough one of the only cars I haven’t ever driven or even been in is a Porsche – not one! This is a bit odd as when I was growing up I always wanted a 911 Turbo!

In addition to loving driving all types of car (and riding Motorbikes – but that’s my second favorite to driving cars), I also love driving in any weather – it doesn’t matter to me if it’s sunny, raining or snowing – I just love getting in the car and driving. In fact driving when it’s wet or snowing just adds to the fun and is sometimes extremely challenging. Try a Lotus Elise in the snow – knowing that even a tiny bump could need a new front or rear clamshell!

One of the things I am going to pursue more which I have missed over the last few years is a great road trip through Europe – it’s a while since I’ve driven a long journey and I can’t wait to get going.
